Refrigerator Services

1. Condenser Coil: Over time lint will gather on the condenser coil causing your refrigerator to lose efficiency but it will still work to maintain  the needed temperature.  Which is why most lint and dust related issues go unnoticed until its too late. Condenser coil is usually located at the bottom or back of the refrigerator and it's main function is to dissipate heat. When they’re caked in pet hair and lint the compressor has to much harder which has a negative effect on the longevity of your refrigerator.

  • Maintenance: Every 6–12 months, pull the fridge out, unplug it, and use a coil cleaning spray  (the spray can be found at your local hardware store) to clean the coils. For even better results use a vacuum and gently without touching the coil take off the majority of the lint before using the spray.

2. Door Seals: The rubber gaskets around the fridge and freezer doors keep the cold air in. If they are cracked or dirty the cold air will seep through the gaps making your fridge warmer and forcing your compressor to work harder.

  •  Maintenance: Clean the gaskets regularly to remove any sticky spills, crumbs and dust to allow the seal to make good contact with the body of the refrigerator.

Water Filter: If your fridge has a water dispenser or ice maker it has a water filter which needs to be replaced regularly. Its very tempting avoid buying the factory filter and to buy a set of four filters for for about $35 and save money. However many times the cheap knockoff filters have very subtle differences from their genuine OEM counterparts. They might fit and work well the first few times however these subtle differences can damage to the filter head making it impossible to install a new filter which means the filter head needs to be replaced. Or unexpectedly cause a terrible leak  which can case catastrophic damage to a home. Buying a genuine OEM filter is cheaper than wither one of these situations.

  • Maintenance: Replace the filter at the time specified by the manufacturer. Most modern fridges have an indicator light which can be reset after the filter is replaced.
